How to get along well with friends?
Hello, everyone! All of us have friends. My speech topic is “How to get along well with friends?”.
As for this topic, I have three tips. To start with, friends play an important role in our life. They share our happiness and sorrow. Without friends we would have no sense of safety. Next, respect and trust our friends. Never offend them on purpose. If misunderstandings arose, we would try to remove them. Finally, it is necessary to chat with friends often. By doing so, not only do we get useful information but also we strengthen our friendship.
Ok, what is above-mentioned is my answer to the question how we should get on well with
friends. That’s all. Thank you.

Text 1
W: What sports do you like?
M: All kinds of sports, but I like golf the best.
Text 2
M: How much are the bags?
W: The red ones are sold for $4.5 and the black ones are $5.
M: I’ll take the cheaper one.
Text 3
M: Why are you standing here? I thought you were watching the movie.
W: It’s a quarter to 8:00. The movie will start in 15 minutes.
Text 4
M: Did you attend the meeting yesterday?
W: Didn’t you see me?
Text 5
M: Excuse me. Could you tell me how I can get to the department store?
W: It’s not too far from here. You can take a bus or a taxi. Maybe you’d like to walk there.
Text 6
M: Hello, may l speak to Mary, please?
W: This is Mary speaking.
M: Hi, Mary. This is Jack. I’m calling to ask if you could play tennis with us this Saturday.
W: Oh, I’m really sorry I can’t. But I have to pick up my brother at the airport.
M: That’s too bad. Well, how about coming after you get back from the airport?
W: That sounds like a great idea.
Text 7
M: Excuse me!
W: Yes, sir? What can I do for you?
M: I have a problem with this coffee maker, and I want my money back.
W: What’s the problem?
M: It doesn’t work now! And I’ve only used it twice.
W: If you like, you can change it for another one.
M: Thank you. But I really want my money back. Last night I invited some friends of mine for a get-together. After dinner, I put the coffee and the water into the coffee maker and turned it on, but nothing happened. I was very worried. So now I would like my money back.
W: Sure. I’m terribly sorry to have given you so much trouble. And here’s your money.
M: It’s OK. Thank you.
Text 8
M: This is a really good store. I’m sure we can find everything we need.
W: I hope so.
M: Do you know what you need?
W: Not too much. Some clothes like jeans, a skirt and a dress.
M: Here are the jeans. This pair looks very nice.
W: But I don’t like the color. Oh, look at this pair. It’s just what I want.
M: Ok.
W: Look! I like the yellow one.
M: Do you? I really think it’s too long. How about this white one? It looks nicer.
W: But the yellow one is more comfortable.
M: It’s up to you.
Text 9
M: You really don’t like Mel Gibson.
W: No. Not at all.
M: How about Julia Roberts? You must like her films.
W: I’m afraid not. I don’t like any of her films.
M: Oh, come on! They are both great actors.
W: I tell you I think they are boring. I can’t stand them.
M: Well, what kind of movie do you like?
W: In fact, I like horror movies.
M: Horror movies? You’re joking. I mean they’re so bloody and terrifying.
W: I can find something interesting in such movies.
M: So you must love heavy metal music.
W: No, I don’t. I love classical music.
M: You do? I can’t believe that.
W: But it’s true.
Text 10
I’m an American Italian. My parents married two months after they met. Before long they moved to America, for they thought it is a land of opportunity.
When I was young, I always blamed my family because they could not raise me in a normal family. In my family, English was hardly spoken. But in the school, I had to communicate with my classmates and teachers in English. I studied very hard, but I couldn’t reach what I expected.
Now when I take a step back and look at my family, I really feel proud and thankful. I can speak two languages. And how many people can do like me in the world? I want to be a bridge between different cultures.
